photovoltaic (PV) array

Home / glossary / photovoltaic (PV) array

PV arrays: A photovoltaic array is a large scale electrical device that converts sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. Solar panels are the most common type of PV array. They are made up of many individual PV cells that are connected together in order to increase the overall power output of the array. Arrays can be either ground-mounted, meaning they are installed on the ground, or rooftop-mounted, meaning they are installed on the roof of a building.
