dendrites

Home / glossary / dendrites

Dendrites:Dendrites are branching, tree-like structures that extend from the cell body of a neuron. They are the primary sites of input for the neuron, receiving signals from other neurons via synapses. Dendrites play a critical role in integrating these inputs and determining whether or not the neuron will fire an action potential.
