Description
NOMAD 1 — portable solar lighting tower
The Green Frog Systems NOMAD 1 portable solar lighting tower brings permanent-grade solar lighting anywhere a forklift can reach. Fit it with the DEFENDER 55 or DEFENDER 70 all-in-one head — LED engine, solar panel, LiFePO4 battery and MPPT controller in one sealed unit — with no cabling or separate gear tray.
The four-section telescopic mast hand-winches to 6.0 m, so the head is installed, cleaned and serviced entirely at ground level. Both light-head variants can meet AS/NZS 1158.3.1:2020 Category P general illumination — P3, P4 and P5.
Place the tower with a forklift, telehandler or loader with forks, then fill the base with locally sourced sand or ore-based fill to the prescribed density and marked fill level per the engineered ballast schedule supplied with each unit. No concrete footings, no grid connection and no fuel. When the job moves, empty the ballast back to site, lower the mast and fork the unit onto the truck.
Three ways to configure the NOMAD 1
NOMAD 1 tower only
An engineered ballast base, hand winch, 6.0 m four-section telescopic tower and 60 mm spigot, with 92 kg mast load capacity. A robust, redeployable platform for emergency services and integrators mounting their own cameras, comms, sensors, sirens or repeaters.
NOMAD 1 + DEFENDER 55
The pathway and amenity configuration, with an all-in-one solar pathway light delivering up to 36 W / 4,558 lm. A 307 Wh LiFePO4 battery provides 4–8+ nights autonomy. Available options include twin PIR motion boost and programmable profiles. Suited to pathways, reserves, amenity and security lighting.
NOMAD 1 + DEFENDER 70
The maximum-light configuration, delivering 70 W / 14,000 lm with 130 Wp integrated solar and a 1,152 Wh LiFePO4 battery. Power scaling and multiple program modes provide 3–5 nights autonomy. Suited to car parks, gates, camps, compounds and events.
Autonomy and recharge times are engineered per site with worst-month solar verification, and will vary by location and season.
Applications
- Walking tracks and pathways
- Mining camps and villages
- Car parks and gates
- Construction site entry points
- Storage yards and security
- Events and festivals
- Emergency management and disaster response
Councils can use NOMAD 1 for depot or car park security lighting throughout the year, then redeploy it for festivals, shows and events. Emergency services can store lighting configurations on trickle charge, or use the tower-only configuration to mount their own equipment.
