Background

  • Solar security lighting has recently been deployed by Maritime Constructions (specialist marine infrastructure solutions providers) for additional perimeter security on their latest project; a $40 million Marine Support Base constructed located at Onslow, North of Western Australia. The privately funded project with a case study factsheet on Onslow is available through this link: Onslow Investmenst Decision Case Study [ see also NAIF’s media release regarding Onslow here: https://naif.gov.au/media-releases/western-australia-signs-for-onslow-investment/] will be developed into a service hub for vessels operating throughout Western Australia’s offshore oil and gas fields. The project required that the lighting had in ground battery storage, along with the ability to withstand some of the toughest cyclones in Australia.

Solution

  • With our GFS-400 solar street light system being designed to withstand some of the toughest Australian cyclone conditions, along with being able to provide the flexibility of an in-ground battery storage solution made the  the perfect choice for the project. Green Frog Systems solar lighting solution also meant that installation times were greatly reduced, as the system did not require trenching or mains power connection or ongoing supply charges.

Outcome

  • Maritime Constructions, along with the Onslow Council, were incredibly happy with the solar lights. Following the project, Maritime Constructions undertook repeat business with Green Frog Systems, including the implementation of GFS-Stealth Solar Pathway Lights at the Burswood Jetty in Perth, which offers access to the Optus Stadium.
